Security Audits

Independent, evidence-based assessment of your vessel and operational security posture.

Key Services

Independent assessment you can act on

Black Pearl Maritime Security provides independent vessel and operational security assessments designed to give owners, operators and managers a clear, objective picture of their current protective posture. Acting at arm's length from your day-to-day operation, our auditors identify the vulnerabilities that matter, validate the controls already in place, and translate findings into practical action.

Each audit is built around a structured methodology. We begin with a documentary and risk review, follow with on-board or operational inspection where appropriate, and conclude with verification against recognised standards and your own procedures. The result is a defensible, repeatable assessment rather than a subjective opinion, supported by evidence gathered throughout the engagement.

What We Review

Scope and deliverables

Our review covers the areas that most directly affect a vessel's resilience: Ship Security Plan (SSP) and ISPS Code compliance, physical security arrangements, citadel construction and readiness, adherence to the latest Best Management Practices (BMP), standing operating procedures, and the conduct and recording of security drills. Where a security team is embarked, we also assess integration with the master and bridge team, the rules for the use of force, and equipment management.

We assess each element against the applicable regulatory baseline and against good industry practice, distinguishing clearly between mandatory non-conformities and recommended improvements. This ensures that effort and budget are directed first to the issues that carry the greatest risk to crew, cargo and vessel.

Every engagement concludes with a written deliverable. This includes a structured gap analysis mapping findings to the relevant requirement, prioritised recommendations with suggested timeframes for closure, and benchmarking that places your arrangements in the context of comparable operations and accepted standards. The report is designed to be shared with management, flag and, where relevant, charterers and insurers.

Findings are presented constructively. Our objective is not simply to record shortcomings but to support continuous improvement, helping you close gaps efficiently and maintain a security posture that stands up to scrutiny over time.
