Black Pearl Maritime Security is licensed and approved by a wide range of major flag administrations to provide privately contracted armed security personnel (PCASP) aboard vessels under their registry. This recognition reflects our compliance with the demanding governance, training and operational standards that responsible flag states require of an armed maritime security provider.
Under international maritime law, the flag state holds regulatory authority over the vessels on its register, including the decision on whether and how armed security may be deployed. Each administration sets its own framework for authorising security companies, vetting personnel, controlling firearms and governing the use of force. Operating lawfully therefore depends on holding the correct approval for the specific flag a vessel flies.
We maintain our approvals by complying with each flag's particular requirements, from notification and documentation procedures to rules on weapons carriage and the rules for the use of force. Our management system, drawn together under our ISO 28007 certification, ensures that the obligations of every administration we work with are understood, met and evidenced on each and every transit.
